For those who love to rock, come on down to Ellicottville, NY for the annual Rock n’ Roll Weekend.

From Sept. 14-16, 2012, experience some of the area’s top musicians as they perform decades of hits.

“It’s a rock and roll weekend,” said Heather Snyder, Media & Communications Coordinator for the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a lot - anything from Elvis to southern rock. The weekend offers a little bit of everything.”

Mike Kerns, owner of Balloons, agreed. “We always participate,” he said, noting that the restaurant has hosted bands since the event began over 10 years ago. “Here at Balloons we like to provide quality entertainment, and there are some top notch rock n’ roll bands. It’s definitely a weekend of great music.”

This year, the entertainment at Balloons tentatively includes “The A List” and “Blues Child.” Dave Elder, music coordinator for the area, said many of the bands are not solidified until closer to the weekend, but there is always stellar music at venues throughout the village.

“The music is always great,” Elder said, also noting his enthusiasm for the annual car show, which is displayed throughout the village.

“It’s well-attended, so it’s a nice turnout,” he said. “The Chamber closes the main street down. I’m easily impressed by most of the cars. It’s an overall viewing, but some of the vehicles are crazy great.”

Car Show

According to Snyder, the car show is one of the main attractions during the Rock n’ Roll Weekend with “a whole plethora of cars.”

“There are so many classes of cars at the show,” Snyder said. “Anything including antique, classic, custom modified, sports, rods, trucks and convertibles. I love seeing the show. It’s something different, and you don’t usually see it. You don’t have to be a big car aficionado - it’s something for everyone.”

Kerns added, “I never miss the car show. It’s a great one, but I’m a classic car person. I go to a lot of them, and it’s nice to have one in our own backyard. The quality of cars can’t be beat. You don’t see them in other places. Last year there were a couple Shelby’s and that was pretty amazing.”

Anyone interested in participating in the show can register a car on the Chamber’s website at www.ellicottvilleny.com. Registration before September 3 is $15, but after that date, the cost is $20. Keep tabs on the website for more information about the bands performing, as the event date gets closer.

“We don’t have all the bands confirmed yet,” Snyder said. “It’s usually a couple weeks before, but it’s definitely one of busier events - and a fun, exciting weekend.”
